Welcome to our farm
David and Jon Watt (pictured left) are 4th generation farmers based in Laxfield, Suffolk.
Originally from Perth in Scotland, David’s grandfather moved south to Upminster in the early 20th century to take on a tennant farm. Here they grew the business to include a dairy round in the nearby towns and grew vegetables for inner city markets, including Spitalfields. David took on the farm in his 20s, adding pigs and a business yard into the mix.
Moving to Suffolk in the early 2000’s, David set up a farming enterprise just outside the village of Laxfield with Jon by his side whenever the school holidays would allow.
After university, and a stint as a racing driver (a bit of a different pace to farm life!), Jon returned to the family farm where he has developed a contracting side to the business and re-established his own herd of pedigree Hereford Cattle. In 2024, Jon was chosen as an NFU Student Farming Ambassador and continues his work to represent young farmers in the press, alongside his role as Livestock Representative for his local NFU Office.
Now the farm is run by the two of them, with the help of Jon’s partner Rachel. We are proud to run a small, local farm focusing on producing excellent, high quality beef and of our regenerative system of farming. Every purchase supports our small family farm and a better way of farming.
In the Press
Alongside his role on the farm, Jon has also written in various publications about his experience in Agriculture.
Recent arcticles have been in Farmers Weekly, Farmers Guardian, the East Anglian Daily Times, The Student Young Farmers Magazine - he has also represented the NFU as a Student Young Farmer Ambassador in local media including BBC Look East, Greatest Hits Radio and on BBC Suffolk.
